If you are interested in coming, please sign up here. (No payment is required until the day).

A one-day course by Graham Bretherick to enhance your counselling skills

Why this course?

  • The Holy Spirit continues to equip the body of Christ with a diversity of gifts
  • One groups of gifts is the relational: encouraging, admonishing, pastoring, showing mercy etc.
    • (It has been suggested that typically around a third of Christians will have some measure of them)
  • This group of gifts is vital for a healthy body:
    • When these gifts are functioning, many pastoral issues are caught early
    • When they are not, senior leaders can get burned out with constant problems
  • Like any gift, these need to be “stirred up” and developed by training
  • The purpose of this day of training is to assist in the development of these relationally gifted Christians

Who is it for?

  • Church leaders
  • Cell group and team leaders within the church
  • Those who are currently trying to help people in their lives who are struggling
  • All Christians who wish to develop their gifting for helping others

What will this course equip you to do?

  • The goal of the day is to equip with fundamental skills that form the basis for ministering to people with problems and needs.
  • Some of these skills will are:
    • How to ask the right questions
    • How to deal with silence
    • How to extract insights from conversations
    • How to use listening techniques such as minimal encourages, paraphrase, reflection & summary
    • How to give information and advice
    • How to confront issues
  • This is the first part of a course in Christian Counselling, and taking part in this event will help you determine the value of enrolling in the complete course.
